LASH EXTENSIONS
What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions enhance the length, thickness and fullness of natural eyelashes. The extensions may consist of silk, mink, or synthetic hair all of which varies in length, diameter & curl. One Eyelash extension or one hand made Volume fan must be applied to one natural lash to avoid any damages to the natural lashes. If you're starting out with fine, sparse lashes, it's unlikely you'll be able to reach an extremely voluminous lash look. It is important to remember that your natural lashes can only carry so much weight & we don't want to damage them due to overload. The application of eyelash extensions can last anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, but it still beats fiddling around with lash glue & lash strips & being forced to take them off at the end of your day.
How old do I have to be to get eyelash extensions?
You must be 18 years old or older, otherwise you will need parental/guardian consent to be signed before lash application can begin!
Do eyelash extensions hurt?
Eyelash extensions shouldn't hurt during or after the application! In fact, as long as the extensions are the correct length & diameter & proper technique was used during the lash application you shouldn't feel your extensions at all! If you feel any discomfort during & after please notify your lash artist!
How long do eyelash extensions last?
The average person has between 90-150 natural lashes per upper eyelid, each with a different lash growth cycle. Please note, each eye sheds approximately 1-5 lashes per day & with every natural lash shed comes an eyelash extension that falls out with it. So in perspective, let's average lash shedding at 3 lashes per day: in 1 week you will lose about 21 lashes. In 2 weeks you will lose about 42 lashes. In 3 weeks you will lose about 63 lashes & so forth. So after 2-3 weeks you will only have approximately 40-50% of your set remaining because of the natural shedding. Like nails, lashes grow & in 2-3 weeks they need an infill.
What should I do before my appointment?
Please ensure you arrive to your lash appointment with no eye makeup & without your natural lashes curled. Refrain from drinking any caffeinated beverages before your lash appointment because caffeine will cause your eyes to flutter, which could cause issues during application. & if at all possible, please do not wear contact lenses to your appointment!
What should I do after my appointment?
Please avoid exposing your lash extensions to water, heat, humidity & friction. Avoid swimming, spa & facial treatments for 48 hours after lash application. If you must shower, keep it brief to limit the exposure to steam & do not wet your lashes. Do not apply any eye cosmetics or skin care products to your lashes or eye area. Try to sleep on your back to prevent lash & pillow friction. Use a spoolie to gently separate & groom your lashes. Refrain from touching your lashes with your fingers as your skin produces natural oils that will break down the adhesive.
